Earlier, SaharaReporters reported that terrorists attacked Kakafu community in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting four residents in the early hours of Sunday.

Local sources told SaharaReporters that the assailants stormed the community on Sunday morning, firing sporadically before whisking away four villagers to an unknown destination.

A source familiar with the situation said the abduction occurred just 24 hours after another violent incident along the Gamji Road checkpoint in Gbugbu, where armed bandits ambushed vigilantes and security operatives.

The source added that during the Saturday attack, the attackers coordinated an assault on the vigilantes and community guards stationed at the checkpoint, leaving at least one soldier injured after sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg.

“The bandits attacked the vigilantes and community guards at the checkpoint along Gamji Road, leaving at least one army officer injured after sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg. A vigilante officer was also reportedly hit, suffering a serious injury to the forehead,” the source said.

The injured personnel were reportedly rushed to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment.

Residents lamented that both Kwara North and Kwara South senatorial districts have continued to witness incessant attacks, kidnappings and ambushes by armed groups in recent months, raising serious concerns over the worsening security situation.
