A source familiar with the situation said the abduction occurred just 24 hours after another violent incident along the Gamji Road checkpoint in Gbugbu, where armed bandits ambushed vigilantes and security operatives.

Terrorists have attacked Kakafu community in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting four residents in the early hours of Sunday.

Local sources told SaharaReporters that the assailants stormed the community on Sunday morning, firing sporadically before whisking away four villagers to an unknown location.

A source familiar with the situation said the abduction occurred just 24 hours after another violent incident along the Gamji Road checkpoint in Gbugbu, where armed bandits ambushed vigilantes and security operatives.

The source added that during the Saturday attack, the attackers coordinated an assault on the vigilantes and community guards stationed at the checkpoint, leaving at least one soldier injured after sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg.

“The bandits attacked the vigilantes and community guards at the checkpoint along Gamji Road, leaving at least one army officer injured after sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg. A vigilante officer was also reportedly hit, suffering a serious injury to the forehead,” the source said.

The injured personnel were reportedly rushed to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment.

Residents lamented that both Kwara North and Kwara South senatorial districts have continued to witness incessant attacks, kidnappings and ambushes by armed groups in recent months, raising serious concerns over the worsening security situation.

On Saturday, SaharaReporters reported that suspected Boko Haram terrorists, formally known as Jama’atu Ahlissunnah Lidda’awati wal-Jihad, had released a disturbing video in which they paraded 176 abducted victims, including women, children and a nursing mother, allegedly seized from Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

In the video obtained by SaharaReporters, one of the terrorists is seen interrogating the captives, asking them to state where they were kidnapped.

Responding in Hausa language, three women, including a nursing mother, answered one after the other that they were abducted at Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The footage shows dozens of women and children standing in rows, many of them visibly distressed.

Their clothes appeared dirty and worn, while several of the children were seen without trousers, underscoring the harsh conditions under which they are being held.

While parading the victims, one of the terrorists openly accused the Kwara State government of deliberately misleading Nigerians and the international community over the scale of the abductions.

In the video, the terrorist claimed that the state government lied by reporting that only 20 to 30 people were kidnapped, insisting that the actual number of captives in their custody was 176.

“The Kwara State government lied to Nigeria and to the whole world,” the terrorist said, insisting that the number of abducted persons was far higher than officially acknowledged.
